The steady & systematic dismantling of age-old gender prejudices & conditioning can only happen when we, as women, show up for each other. Representation starts now with a commitment to move conscious thoughts to unconscious actions in our industry.

For a long time now women, trans and non binary people have been underrepresented in cinema and the film industry. The working practices in film have not had enough checks and balances to avoid exploitative work environment. The evidence of that was clearly seen in the Hema committee report. Creating a network that could finally lead to improvement in the film work culture for those who are marginalised in different ways is the only way to move forward. we need an organisation that works across the country for this.

I am fortunate that my career path aligned with a time that called me to be a part of a movement that said enough is enough. Every one of us deserves an equal and fair workplace, and we will accept nothing less. Though we have sacrificed much, this path would have been infinitely harder in isolation.

We need a community of men and women who see the world beyond gender, because “Art has no gender

It's often in the cradle of friendships that our creative energies are strengthened and renewed. This is something that I believe in fiercely. There's no replacement for community, and a community of women supporting each other is, according to me, the only way forward. It's imperative to demonstrate a unity to the younger generation, building a world made on hope, love, and friendships, instead of competition and comparison.

Isolating women and gaslighting them into believing that the unequal and debilitatingly exploitative way in which society is functioning is par for the course is one of the key pillars of patriarchy. These misogynistic structures and narratives will begin to fall apart when more avenues are created for women to come together to share, collaborate and support each other. Our unity is the antidote to gender inequality.
